Celui-ci a été réalisé sur deux périodes consécutives (mai 2002/ août 2003 et septembre 2003/mai 2004) et les résultats obtenus montrent que la Nouvelle-Calédonie est non seulement un site ayant un important rôle à jouer en termes de conservation de ces espèces (en voie de disparition) mais également un des rares endroits du monde où leur pêche est encore autorisée.
